For the second year in a row, Accurate NeuroMonitoring sponsored the “Bal Shalya Kriya” Mission in Nagpur, India. The mission seeks to help children with severe deformities who cannot afford medical care.
This year, Accurate NeuroMonitoring sent Marlee Davis, CNIM, along with neuromonitoring equipment and supplies, to the Shanta Spine Hospital to provide neuromonitoring services during complex surgeries to help correct severe pediatric spinal anomalies. Under the direction of Dr. David Antekeier, a spinal deformity surgeon from The Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia, the team performed eight spinal surgeries, many of which carry significant risk of neurological complications.
With the help of cutting-edge neuromonitoring technology, critical alerts in two of the eight surgeries were identified. As a result, surgical adaptations were made, restoring the neuromonitoring data. All eight children came out of surgery with marked improvement in their condition and no new neurological deficits. Congratulations to the whole team for their success and thank you for participating in such a noble mission!
